Sony Hi8 camcorder tapes?

I have a Sony camcorder that is about six or seven years old. It will no longer play my Hi8 tapes. When I put any tape in, it continuously beeps and ejects the cassete. It is no longer under warrenty therefore it will cost a bit to get it repaired. I will be buying a new one next month anyway.

I have quite a few tapes I would want to watch back. I went to Currys and Comet for a VHS size adapter which you put your camcorder tape into, which you then put into the VHS player and it allows you to watch the camcorder tapes... But they dont sell them. They told me to try ebay. I have but can not find one!

Where can I get one from or what can I do?!

There is no adaptor for Hi-8 to VHS. Maybe you can borrow a working camcorder from someone or take your tapes somewhere to have them transferred to DVD. Good luck.

To Repair Or Not To Repair, That Is The Question?

Many of us are easily frustrated with our computers performance, startup times, programs that are unresponsive, and the many annoying pop up’s, ads, banners, etc while trying to surf the internet, or just type a document for work or school. After a while of trying to deal with these inequalities and still no luck we decide enough is enough and we run to our nearest Best Buy, Circuit City, or Staples and purchase a new, shinny, and up-to-date computer with a flat screen monitor, speakers, smooth mouse, ergonomic keyboard, and the like. Once we get home and set the computer up, and connect to the internet were back in business.

The true fact of purchasing a new computer is we are actually purchasing a ticking time bomb. New computers that are certainly new, up-to-date, and have the latest and greatest programs also have major problems and inequalities that come preloaded and built for us to deal with within a certain time frame but no one tells us this. If we are told during the purchase which is unlikely, they make it seem like it is not big deal, but in fact it actually is time consuming, costly, and a ethically wrong, but that is just me.

When you purchase a new computer everything is preloaded and that is it. You get no software and if you’re lucky you get a recovery disk. Many other reputable brand names like HP, E-Machine, Sony, Toshiba and others do not have any disks for you if you had a catastrophe, or a complete melt down, Literally.

Programs such as Norton, MacAfee, Word, Excel, and other programs are trial versions and once they reach their 60 or 90 day trial you are left without working software you thought you paid for. You may wonder what does that really mean and does it really matter.

For Norton, MacAfee, Word, Excel, and other programs it doesn't matter because there are so many programs out there that put these programs to shame, and best of yet, there free!

The downside is you have to find them and hope you install them correctly. Installing software today is nothing like it used to be. All you do today is press the button on your mouse and after a few clicks your read to rock and roll once again. The other point is if these programs no longer worked because of a trial period that expired so what, the computer will still work. However, soon after these trial programs expire like Norton, MacAfee, and other virus, and spyware protection programs your newly purchased computer will end up just like the old one, except now it would be a up-to-date paper weight instead of old and battered one.

The true fact of the matter is your data. Without your pictures, documents, photos, music and other items you hold dearly you could care less and that is what we are here to discuss. If Your Old computer was older than 5 to 7 years old, and making all kinds of weird noises, running extremely hot, and never responded to anything you try to do to it, then yes, a new computer is definitely in your range. However, how do you go about getting that data on your old computer to the new one without having to pay a lot of money, and dealing with compatibility issues such as photos, or music can't be read because your system was too old or doesn't recognize the format, etc, etc, etc.

This is where to repair or not to repair comes in.

If your computer is older than 7 years in age, ran hot, is very unresponsive, and crashed or the like than your most likely dealing with a hardware issue. If the software were bad which is unlikely, then your software has been compromised and needs some special attention. Fixing these issues can be much cheaper saving you time, money, and headaches.

Most of the time the hardware components that fail are either the hard drive, fans, and or CD/DVD ROMS. If your motherboard fails or the power supply unit then getting a new computer would be most beneficial in the long run. If your hard drive or fan is the problem then just fix the issue and off you go. Transferring your old data to a new computer plus the purchase of the new computer can be costly.

Computers today because they come with no true software in them except the operating system are very cheap and range from $250 and up, but after purchasing a new computer, transferring your data over, and purchasing virus, spyware, and internet protection you’re up to around $700 and don't forget about a Geek Squad or Firedog protection plan. Now you spend a $1000 dollars for something that cost around $150 or less to fix.

In conclusion contact someone outside of these big corporate companies in regards to your computer related issues. Finding a quality and honest computer Repair Service is like finding a quality and honest mechanic. There are good, honest computer repair companies out there, but You Want to find the ones that have very little overhead, and do not have huge quotas to reach by up selling you on everything. Companies have to Make Money but ripping people off is just ethically, and morally wrong.

My laptop motherboard’s not working. How can I retrieve data from my hard disk?

the model is hp tx1301 au, processor is amd athlon.it is a tablet pc.
i intend to get the laptop repaired but i know the replacement will take at least a week. i have some really important files on it. i did not make an external back up for them since i got my laptop repaired about a month back only.
i do have an external hard disk and another laptop at home.this one's a Sony Vaio.

Like alexander said you will have to take the hard drive out of the laptop and put it in your other laptop or you can buy a special wire to hook it up outside your computer with a USB converter wire.

Unless the files are super important I wouldn't risk it though, if you don't know how to do it right you risk frying your hard drive and possibly your other laptop.

Choosing a Cake: Will you have a cake at your event? Will it be homemade, Custom Made, or store bought? You'll want to choose a cake that fits into the theme of your Chicago Sweet Sixteen and of course you'll want it to taste good!

Photography or Photo booths: Having a professional photographer is becoming quite a trend. Of course you'll want to try to stick to your budget as photographers tend to be expensive. Will there be music playing? Will you have a red carpet entrance? Will they come in by themselves or with a VIP or closes friend? Maybe a paparazzi entrance with pictures everywhere? what's good birthday party ideas for a 14-year-old?

ok, so im turning 14 in april, and i want a big party. im already thinking of booking a hotel ballroom. but i don't know where i would get all these party supplies (pop-out cake, music, entrance, food, drinks, and entertainment. there's about 160 people going. i am one of the most popular people in school, and even expects me to throw a HUGGEE party. i already picked my favorite people for my VIP list, but they didn't help that much.

When my niece turned 14, we rented a gymnastics place. The kids had a blast with the music, tumbling, dance contests, etc. And there was plenty of space for all the party supplies.
